The birds are real though but they stay at the beginning.There are several well-established ways to know you're watching a Quentin Tarantino movie: graphic violence of course, the experimental narrative structures, exceedingly foul language, and way too many close-up shots of bare feet. They're just there to tell you where to start. Also the kids at the beginning aren't real. The things I can put into words are as follows: Lord Licorice smells like deep yellow and is a bad guy, Gloppy isn't trying to be a bad guy but he grabs you when you're close and it's really heavy and you can't breathe, Gramma Nut is just my grandma I think, Queen Frostine gives you cotton candy that tastes like blue ice (?), Jolly is nice but untrustworthy and ruins things, Mr Mint is like 20 ft tall and you can ride on his shoulders but he doesn't talk (he's also not a good or bad guy I don't think - he's neutral and has no stake in whatever game of thrones is going on here), Plumpy feels like a big dog if you hug him and his amulet is purple magic, touching one of the plums to your face would be the most satisfying feeling on Earth like a wet rubber ball that isn't actually wet (?), the king's Castle is actually muffins, and Princess Lolly's gumdrops would make your strep throat feel better. Sorry, it's probably been 30 years since I've seen this board and trying to translate my child self's thoughts into adult thoughts is remarkably difficult.

The best way I can describe it is like in a movie when a character has 'forgotten their past' or whatever and there's these short little bursts of disconnected scenes that flash on screen while they're piecing it back together. When I think about it, there's just this deluge of sensations. Oh man, I don't know that I could even put them into words.
